Abstract

Spatial configuration is the arrangement of objects in place. Spatial configuration is an important factor for achieving design goals and creating visually and functionally attractive environments. Bulak Fish Center is one of the tourist destinations in Surabaya to develop local wisdom. Government hopes to be able to prosper the surrounding community who mostly work on the coast but until now it has not been realized. Aforementioned expectations are caused by unachieved design goals. The study aims to analyze the spatial configuration of Bulak Fish Center as a shopping tourism center with local wisdom. The study used the method of content analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis in literature studies, surveys using in-depth interview methods to 3 respondents (visitors and sellers), and documentation. The results showed that spatial configuration in Bulak Fish Center formed a linear spatial organization pattern with zoning division, namely processed fish, wet fish, dry fish, and supporting facilities zone. The configuration of the formed space affects the patterns of activity and social interaction. These findings contribute to more structured development. Thus, spatial configuration can be influenced and strengthen the local wisdom of the community, creating space that reflects the local cultural identity.
