Abstract

Thermal comfort in buildings is a key factor in creating a comfortable environment for occupants, particularly in environments that are frequently visited by many people. Airports, as human traffic terminals, naturally aim to provide comfort to passengers, and one example of enhancing passenger comfort is through the building facade. The airport facade design plays a crucial role in thermal comfort. Besides being an aesthetic element, the airport facade significantly influences the thermal conditions within the building. In the context of architecture, thermal comfort is a critical factor that must be considered to optimize the airport user experience. This research aims to contribute knowledge and provide deeper insights into how facade design can affect thermal comfort. It examines several factors, including climate, building orientation, facade materials, shading, thermal insulation, and opening design. The research employs data collection methods based on field observations, literature studies, and analysis of collected data related to building facade design. The results indicate that the design Banyuwangi Airport facade has a significant influence on the thermal comfort of the airport. This influence is observed in terms of facade design, response to climate, and building openings.
